The application fee includes GST. For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, ₹175 is charged as intimation charges. For General, EWS and OBC candidates, the fee is ₹850. The fee can be paid through online payment methods such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, BHIM and UPI.

The application fee is non-refundable. Once the application is submitted and the fee is paid, it cannot be refunded or adjusted against another recruitment process.

The notification provides category-wise reservation within these vacancies. The total includes 36 SC, 18 ST, 80 OBC, 22 EWS and 94 UR vacancies. Some States also include backlog vacancies.

IOB LBO Recruitment 2026 Eligibility, Qualification and Age Limit

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have a Degree or Graduation in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

The candidate must already be a graduate on the date of registration and should have a valid marksheet or degree certificate. The graduation percentage also has to be entered in the online application form.

Age Limit

The age limit for the Local Bank Officer post is 20 to 30 years.The age will be calculated as on 01 August 2026. Candidates should have been born not earlier than 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2006.

Local Language Requirement

Local language knowledge is an important requirement for this recruitment. Candidates should be able to read, write and speak the specified language of the State they choose.

For example, candidates applying for Gujarat vacancies should have proficiency in Gujarati, while candidates applying for Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra should have proficiency in Tamil, Kannada and Marathi respectively.

Candidates who have not studied the required local language in Class 10th or 12th will have to appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Candidates who fail the LPT will not be considered for further selection.

However, candidates who have studied the required local language as a subject in Class 10th or 12th and can show the relevant marksheet or certificate will not have to appear for the LPT.

IOB LBO Recruitment 2026 Salary

The post of Local Bank Officer is in JMGS-I / Scale-I. The basic pay scale mentioned in the notification is ₹48,480 – ₹85,920/-.

Apart from the basic pay, other allowances such as DA, HRA and CCA will be provided as per the applicable Bank rules.Selected candidates will be on probation for two years of active service from the date of joining the Bank. They will also have to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2 lakh for serving the Bank for a minimum period of three years.

IOB LBO Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process will be completed through the following stages:

  1. Online Examination
  2. Language Proficiency Test (where applicable)
  3. Personal Interview
  4. Final Merit List

Candidates who qualify in the Online Examination will be shortlisted for the Language Proficiency Test where it is applicable. Candidates who qualify in the required stages will then be called for the Personal Interview.

The Personal Interview will carry 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview are 45% for reserved category candidates and 50% for unreserved candidates.

For final selection, the Online Examination and Personal Interview will have a weightage of 80:20. The final merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.

The Online Examination will have a total of 140 objective questions for 200 marks. The total examination duration will be 3 hours, with separate timing for each section.

The Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and Data Analysis and Interpretation sections will be available in English and Hindi. The English Knowledge section will be in English.

There will be negative marking in the online examination. For every wrong answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. There will be no penalty for unanswered questions.

There are no sectional qualifying marks. The minimum aggregate qualifying marks in the Online Examination are 30% for reserved candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates.
