Press Council of India ASO Recruitment 2026: The Press Council of India (PCI) has officially released the recruitment advertisement notice for the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) under Advertisement Number F.No. 1/6/2020-PCI (Admn.) (Part-III) for a total of 03 vacancies. The official notification circular was released on 26.09.2026 to re-invite applications from eligible Indian citizens following the cancellation of the earlier examination process. Eligible candidates can submit their applications offline starting from 26.09.2026, with the closing deadline set for 26.10.2026 (within 30 days of the publication of the Short Notice in Employment News).

Note on Online Payment: Candidates opting to pay online can remit the fee directly to SBI Scope Complex Delhi Branch (Account No: 52142907714, IFSC: SBIN0020511) and attach the UTR/payment receipt with the application form. Candidates who appeared/received admit cards for the earlier cancelled examination held on 04.05.2025 are completely exempted from paying the fee.
Age Limit, Vacancy Details, and Qualification
Age Limit: The age limit for Press Council of India ASO Recruitment 2026 is 20-30 Years. The cutoff date for the calculation of the age limit is 26.10.2026.. Age Relaxation will be given as per the rules.

- Preferred Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree, Degree in Law, Degree/Diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication, or knowledge of an additional Indian language.

The recruitment consists of two tiers followed by a typing test and document verification:
Tier-I Objective Examination (200 Questions / 200 Marks / 150 Minutes)

- Negative Marking: Deduction of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
- Bilingual: The paper is bilingual (English and Hindi), except for the English Comprehension section. Candidates must qualify each section individually.
Tier-II Descriptive Examination (Qualifying Nature / 100 Marks / 60 Minutes)
- Subjects Covered: Essay, Precis, Letter, or Application Writing testing writing ability and critical analysis in English or Hindi.
- Qualifying Marks: 65% for UR and 60% for OBC.
- Merit Criteria: The final merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks secured in Tier-I among candidates who qualify Tier-II.

Follow these steps to apply for Press Council of India ASO Recruitment 2026:
- Download the official notification and application form proforma (Annexure-I) from presscouncil.nic.in.
- Print the proforma and fill out the bio-data in BLOCK LETTERS with personal, educational, category, and communication details.
- Affix a recent self-attested passport-size photograph in the designated box on the application format.
- Attach self-attested copies of educational certificates, date of birth certificate/matriculation mark sheet, category certificate (if applicable), and experience certificates.
- Enclose the original fee payment receipt (UTR copy) for online bank transfer or Demand Draft/Cheque of Rs. 100/- payable to the Secretary, Press Council of India.
- If you appeared in the earlier exam on 04.05.2025, mention your previous roll number and attach a copy of the old admit card for fee exemption.
- Enclose all papers inside an envelope and boldly superscribe: “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ASSISTANT SECTION OFFICER (ASO) – DIRECT RECRUITMENT”.
